Strap-locks

Keep your guitar safe. Use strap-locks.

It’s a sad fact of life, but sometimes guitar straps don’t hang on quite as well to our babies as we would hope. Luckily for us, strap-locks exist and they are very easy to put on.

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver
  • Strap-locks
  • Strap

Step 1 - Remove old strap buttons

Take off any strap that may be on the buttons. Using a screwdriver, unscrew the screw in the middle of each strap button. Place the strap buttons somewhere safe if you ever want them later.

Step 2 – Put on new strap-lock buttons

Doing the opposite of step 1, screw in the strap-lock buttons into the same holes as the old ones. If you have felt pads for the buttons, make sure to put those in between the guitar body and the buttons.

Step 3 – Put on strap attachments

This step will vary between brands, so it is best to check the instructions that come with the strap-locks. However, it normally involves placing part of the attachment through the hole in the strap and placing the other part on the other side of the strap, locking the attachment in place.

Step 4 – Attach the strap to the buttons

This will also depend on the brand but usually involves pressing a button on the strap attachment as you push it into the button.

You now have strap locks on your guitar! Feel your worries fall away as you know that strap is not falling off easily.
